What causes there to be water in a car engine air filter?

umm i just recently changed my air filter in my 2003 saab 9-3 n the airfilter was a little wet. I didnt know what would cause this? i do have broken plastic on the front bottom of the car i didnt kno if it might be the water from the road or a lose connection somewhere? can someone help me?

Most likely it is water that got sucked up during heavy rain. However, only the 2003 model year, the first year, there's a known problem with the SAI accumulating water and making your check engine light go on. If that light isn't on, you're golden, just replace the air filter.
