The 1st answer is correct. At most twice a year, but once a year is adequate.
every time u change your oil is a good idea to check your air fliter, If u could see day light thourgh it you are good. Its a good idea to blow it out when u do look at it, Let your car breed easer. I change mind at lease four times a year. its not that much on parts.
