How do I change the air filter on my 96 Ford Explorer?

This is the cone type right? What you do is pull the lever on the strap and it will come loose. Pull the metal strap up, and pull the forward facing plastic cone toward the headlights. Remove the old filter and push the cone back into place, being careful to line up the plastic tabs (this is the hard part), then pull the metal strap back over and push the lever to cinch it. You're done.

Open drivers door, Reach down and pull hood release , Open hood , remove top to air filter housing using necessary tools, remove thing that looks like the one you bought . Replace air box cover and close hood. Would you like instuctions on how to check the oil or put gas in as well..
