How do I change the air filter and tail lights in my Chevy S-10?

I bought an air filter and just wanted to make sure not to pull the whole thing out. In my last car i just took the clips off and took out the old air filter. In my truck now, the filter is wedged in and i just want to make sure before i pull it out completely.

Just got the truck and I am prone to mess things up doing repairs and replacements with out proper instruction. Thanks

yes just pull it out, to change the bulbs, drop the tailgate and take out the screws or clips on the inside edge. this will allow you to pull out the taillight.

How often should I change the air filter in my '97 Mustang. I live in Southern California. The Jiffy Lube

guys want me to change it every time they change my oil.
How often should I change the air filter in my '97 Mustang. I live in Southern California. The Jiffy Lube
They are probably trying to increase their work and PAYy.

If you only drive on the highways, it will last MUCH longer than an oil change.

IF you leave on a dusty road, it will have to be changed more often than if you drive on the highway only.

The best bet is for YOU to open up the holder and look at it. IF it is dirty and/or clogged up with bugs and junk, it is time to change it. SOME air filters are cleanable. You might check on that also. Good luck. Pops
How often should I change the air filter in my '97 Mustang. I live in Southern California. The Jiffy Lube
Every 15,000 miles or so, unless you drive through dirt roads or construction sites all of the time, no need to replace every oil change, they just want you to buy filters.
i own a repair shop, and you only need to change it every 3-4 months at the most, some will last a lot longer than others will ,it all depends on the filter and the driving conditions but a good filter will last at least4 months on any car, good luck,i hope this help,s.
every time you change your oil change your air filter
check this video out, STOP using jiffy lube centers. this is in your area where you live.

First, check your owners manual. There are generally a couple of recomendations, dependent on driving conditions you experience, and you should pick the one that best matches what driving you do. Obviously, the Jiffy guys are trying to get into your pockets more often than is necessary. Self education is easy and in your glove box.

I am going to change the air filter in my basement. which side faces the floor?

I am going to change the air filter in my basement. which side faces the floor?
The metal threads should be facing outward, and the non-metal side into the system.
if you are placing the filter at the bottom of the unit the metal goes up if you are placing it on the side of the unit the metal goes toward the unit there should also be an arrow on the filter indicating the direction of air flow find the arrow and install appropriately also if you can hold that filter up to the light and see through it up grade your filter its cheap
There is usually an arrow on the side of the frame which indicates the direction of the air flow through the filter. Check it out.
Look for the arrow on the side of the filter for the direction of the airflow.

you should know your bike better.don't you have a owners

    manual.
I also think you should have an owner's manual, at least.

Remove the cover with an allen wrench, 5/16%26quot; I believe.

Remove the two phillips head screws from the filter.

    Remove the filter.

    Assembly is the reverse.

Your best bet whenever you do maintenance on a vehicle is to use the owners manual. The owners manual is like a cars bible. Start there. Most air filter changes are really easy do it yourself type of maintenance. Please see this link below it provides you with the instructions on how to do the change. It's really, really easy.

    Best of luck!
Where can I find something about changing a 2007 Camry Hybrid's Air Filter? Is it easy?
    Very Easy.

you can use your owner's manual to locate the air filter housing. use a 10mm socket to unscrew the two bolts, tilt the housing up and lift - it will disengage from the other side, pop in the new filter, making sure the side marked 'up' is up, Toyota filters usually have three rounded corners and one squared off one to get them oriented properly. reverse the procedure. snug down the bolts but do not overtighten, make sure there housing is sealed.

there's nothing special about the air filter on a hybrid.

    good luck

Do you really have to change the air filter in your car?

Can't you just clean it out and put it back in?
Do you really have to change the air filter in your car?
If it is the standard paper type then yes. They can be blown out if dusty but considering the price of a new filter (not a lot) and the price a gas today then replacing the air filter when needed is not a lot to pay for the benefits it can deliver over a filthy air filter I.E. decreased gas mileage and I have even seen the 'Check Engine' be caused by an air filter that is extremely dirty so you decide if 10 or 15 dollars every couple of years is too much.
Do you really have to change the air filter in your car?
If you have a paper one, you cant wash it out. So you have to replace it. If you have an intake or short ram air filter, you can wash them out and oil them up. But im guessing you have a stock paper air filter. Paper ones are not expensive at all, just replace it so your engine will get all the air it needs to perform at its peak.
only if you have a filter designed for that. and most basic filters are not.
yes because they are made paper fiber only the k%26amp;n air filters are the one you wash. if you dont change the air filter you get bad gas milage and will suck dirt into the intake.
you'll never clean it as well as having a new 1
    uh. HAHA, yeah right!

Please excuse my sarcasm, but as a hobby mechanic, I know for a fact that you can't just clean it.

UNLESS!!!! You purchased a K%26amp;N performance air filter, these CAN be cleaned, but only with a cleaning solution; compressed air will destroy the filter.

Standard air filters trap air between the fibers, eventually these particles will work themselves free and begin to affect engine performance. If a filter is older than it should be, it won't even function at a fraction of what a new one would. If you do run an old filter, dirt will enter your engine, damaging crucial engine parts. These include fuel injectors and many others, it will even cause excess wear on the cylider walls.

If you did clean an air filter water would destroy it, and compressed air would shred it also.

Filters are cheap, around 6- 15 dollars, I wouldn't risk having to clean and replace these expensive parts just to save enough money for one days lunch.

    ~Radley
yes you have to un less you have a reusable one then you have to wash it out that will help your gas milege
replace it! the paper filter does wear out after a period of time. most air filters are very reasonably priced. proper mantainance will keep your vehicle around a long time.
If the filter is the paper type, yes this has to be done on a regular basis of service. There are sleeve type or flat sheet filters which can pe purchased and put on the intake side (the front) of the paper filter. The ones I use cost 18 cents a dry sheet and are made by Swiffer (Procter %26amp; Gamble). This allows the dry paper type air and cabin filters to have an extraordinary life of usuage.

How do you take the engine cover off of a 2007 Jetta? I need to change the air filter with a K&N, but can't.

I don't want to break the cover trying to get it off. I also don't want to have to take it to the dealership.

I think it just pops off, but I don't want to do that unless I know for sure.
How do you take the engine cover off of a 2007 Jetta? I need to change the air filter with a K%26amp;N, but can't.
the plastic cover just pulls up. do not put the k%26amp;n filter in it, until its out of warranty. unless you like to keep buying mass air flow meters that the k%26amp;n filters can and will damage. but, hey... do what you want.

K%26amp;N's let too many dirt particles through. Put it back in the box and return it to the vendor. You will soon find the MAF dirty.
it just pops off on mine but dont put a k%26amp;n in it it lets way to much dirt particles through
